梵蒂岡 (Vatican)

梵蒂岡 (Vatican) 位於意大利 (Italy) 的首都羅馬 (Rome), 佔地只有0.44平方公里, 是羅馬教廷的所在地。羅馬教廷是世上唯一具有國際法人身份的宗教團體, 它的主權國家地位在1929年與意大利政府簽訂條約後得到確立, 成為『國中之國』。

位於梵蒂岡的羅馬教廷, 以天主教義和教會傳統作為準則, 其影響力建基於全球天主教徒的信仰和教宗 (Pope) 本身的號召力。梵蒂岡是西方世界的精神文明、文化傳承的核心, 以教宗 (大陸稱“教皇”) 為元首, 號召全球天主教會。

梵蒂岡與世界各地最重要的國家 (中國例外), 建立正式的外交關係 (Diplomatic Relationship)、相互承認, 確保與建交國境內天主教會的號召; 因此, 梵蒂岡的影響力彰顯在世界各國境內天主教會神職人員 (Clergy) 的任免。
