AFF Friends List Have you ever noticed how people want you to join their Friend's list or want to join your list and then afterwards you never hear from them again? How do you maintain your Friends list? Is it worthwhile to have even such a list? My list is so full now that I have been turning people away for the past few weeks. Today, I decided that I am going to clean out my list by deleting everyone that I do not chat or blog with. VICKY |

I am sometimes going to the City Kayaks for the kayak tour with my friends. It is interesting but not fun when roll over in the water, too cold. J.

Hi Vicky, Stuart from Sydney here. As a newcomer I don't know much about friends lists, but I do know a lot about friends. I was betrayed by the love of my life recently, in the most horrible, horrible way. It was then that I saw who my true friends were. So many of my so called friends have still not contacted me, but some were there to stand by me. It is when we are weak and vulnerable that we see the truth in others. Thats when true friends shine. Take it from one who knows, the reality is we all have far fewer friends than we realise, but I would not trade those few for the world. Cheers, Stu.

I also like to visit the richmond area, many interesting shops of asian tastes, and several good friends over there. But the place i like to frequent more in summer and fall is the napa valley. I usually go kayaking in SF bay. One easiest location is quite close to the AT&T baseball stadium, outside which boaters gather to catch the "splash hit" when the home run flies all the way to the sea. Do you like boating or swimming, any sports outdoors? J.

Yeah, Gordo's at 24th Ave and Clement Street in San Francisco. It's the best in the city for take with you Mexican food. Get in my car and drive to 25th Ave and either go south to Golden Gate Park or north to dine in the Presidio. How about you? Where do you go kyaking? I usually go kayaking in SF bay. Well, I really like to interact with all my Asia Friendfinder friends either by news bulletins, personal e-mails, and now Skype (with cams!). It has been great following events in Beijing & HK...and getting new insights and making new friends! Also I like seeing their pictures and albums too.

I think some people just want a long list and some people want to see themselves on many lists to feel validated. I think it's the 'My Space" syndrome where people boast about how many 'friends' they have. So, it becomes a popularity contest for some. I also think the restrictive communications policy (silver and gold members can send emails) also plays a factor.

hey, vicky, how many years have been in the bay area? Ever discovered anything here unique or ever changed your life? even a homemade hamburger or a salty ice cream will do sometimes. J. How about you? Where do you go kyaking?

I loved the islands while I was there. I enjoyed the great weather, he locals I met along the way between sites, and of course the food. I think maybe I ate too much but then again when on vacation isn't that what you're supposed to do, ignore the rules?

I do not collect any pictures. If I have a relationship with a woman, it is between me and the woman and I do not need to advertise it to anyone else. If I do not have a relationship with a woman, there is no need to collect pictures of women I am not seeing, in order to impress people I do not know and have never met.

I Lost a good Friend, we were friends for over 20 years! He might have only been a Horse but we understood one another and we were buddies... His Name was! Is Rowdy... Take care Monty Vicky

NAN!!!! No, you are a keeper. I just deleted everyone who has never stopped by the blog or chatted with me in the chat room. You know some people like to display a lot of friends in their profiles and I really just don't want to say no to maybe nice people. But after a while it really isn't worth being a trophy friend to some people if they don't want to communicate. But you inspire me. I take my time to write instead of using Dragon Dictate. Oh but he it so much head ache for me. But I think I have attracted some nice people to my blog who otherwise would not be particpating in sharing their views on different topics. Visit often!!! And sorry your trip to Vancouver was too early and mine is too late. It would have been nice to meet you. But I will be in Milan in April. VICKY

Hi Vicky, I have a friend's list, mainly I use it as a way of showing people my picture (since I don't want to put one up in public). It's funny you mentioned about holding up Time magazine in another blog. Once on another chat site there was a dare about putting up a photo of yourself eating a carrot. So I searched the internet for a photo of someone eating a carrot. Everyone was pretty impressed, but in the end I had to admit that I cheated. It's worthwhile to have a friend's list I think. It's nice to be able to make semiprivate announcement as you have. I guess you can use it however you want. If you have hundreds of people in the list, they can't all be close friends right? In terms of not hearing from people, I'm confused ... in another post you just said you get hundreds of emails daily and don't respond. Now you say that you never hear from people. Probably I'm missing something ... Cuddles ps I would still like to be in your friend's list.

Vicky, I sympathise with you. I understand even though I have only 10 friends. Some of them do comment on my photos which I regularly add to my album, others just look once and thats it at that point in time. I enjoy your blogs very much. I hope to catch up with you and your friends one day in the US as I am an avid world traveller. cheers

Hi Vicky  Thanks for commenting on my blog. I agree 100% ! After being invited into one's network, I never hear from any of these people again. I too, only except messages from women. I would love to get to know most them better, but because I am only a standard member, I cannot send mail to any of them. Do you think that perhaps the same is happening to you?   I was also thinking of cleaning out my list because there are a few who I've never spoken with past the invitation. Those people are here for popularity I think, and not for friends.I have a smaller number now then I had before. I have also been accepting people's invites and then I delete them after a few hours. Keep on blogging and sharing your stories. VICKY

Ok, my handle is derived from a character from the history of our old "West," Wild Bill Hickok. Legend has it the gunfighters, gunslingers notched their gun belts for each gun fight. The more notches, the more feared and intimidating they were seen to be. I've often wondered if the Asia Friendfinder friends list was a notch in the belt? Am I deluded?
