Paris - Disneyland Resort Paris

We met with my sister today in Paris. My cousin and I were supposed to leave for New York City tomorrow. But wait! There is a surprise twist to this trip.

My sister, being the nice, caring, loving elder sister she is asked us, "Where do people go after they have won a major sporting event or competition?" "Disneyland," we replied. And so we had our flight delayed for 96 hours as my sister decides she is going to take us to Disneyland to celebrate all of the things she missed doing for me these past few years. It is my graduation present from high school, college, university, graduate school, my missed birthdays, and just because I am the baby and dad would have done this for me all wrapped up into a girl's dream weekend in Paris.

Except, my Prince Charming is not going to be able to take me dancing or trying to ft the glass slipper on my cute feet.

Sigh, what's a girl supposed to do when she's blue?

SHOP TILL SHE DROPS!!!

Au revoir. Profitez de votre week-end. Je vais à Disneyland. J'espère voir Mickey et Minnie.

    Bonjour.....Lee....

You are sweet, indeed. Some truth about the cleaness of France than most Chinese cities(china town in S.F? or other places in China mainland where I was just a tourist instead)

Paris is considerated as a very undisciplined capital where you might be surprised by walking and stepping on the dogs shits and other craps on the sidewalks if you dont pay attention watching in front of you, not above your nose, but below your chin( sarcasticall)

Each Maire is trying to impose the laws to the dog owners, yet the result is soo poor. I believe that living in appt instead of house with yard is one of the factors, too.Especially in Paris where the 16 arondissements is considerated as one of the richest quartier for the parisans. There pavements are soooo narrow, yet these residents are most likely have the little pets for their companions. The dogs need to walk for exercise, to breath air from outside instead of from inside of the appt. Therefore!!!!

Thankfully, we can tour to many touristic places which are more target within the capital without much of these problems with shits although having no car and a guide. We have more the ficility to tour around with a map and metro tickets which can take us even to Versaille. That also can save lots of monie. Unless your trips are more on the scenes of the countryside .There are places as Nice, Monaco, etc or Normandie where most Americans would love to visit dues to history of War world 2.

Hey, I bet you have figured out how to trigger the french folks 's bravery to speak english although they are shy.Once you speak their languages with struggling like you are very painful yet your did try your best to adjust to their cultures. They will come around and try to save you by speaking your language in english. Oh, one more thing, please dont twist our tongues while speaking american english. the french folks are more used to british english while they have learnt from School with british accents.

I would love to let the American folks learn to discover more beautiful things between their different cultures, their life values , epecially friendship values. As a stranger , we dont speak as if it is very common to each others while waiting the lines in public as it is in the States. But once they know you. You will feel the warmth that we do treasure our encounters by sending the christmas card every year to those who have once come into their memories.I do like this good quality a lots which is different from other cultures which I have known.

Sweetie, Thank you for your sharing here.I am glad that you are able to be exposed to life and this trip definitely has enriched in your journey wherever you go.

    God Bless

We stayed on Avenue New York on the west side of the Seine River, across from the Eiffel Tower. Our apartment overlooked the tunnel where Princess Diana died in that car crash some years back.

Yes, dog poops was a big problem in some areas we wandered through, but on the main streets, there is very little if any of that problem on the streets. It is in the public parks where the big dogs go that is a real mess.

Ah, yes, the French and their very poor English. I guess its part of the government’s plans to try to keep them from becoming to Americanized and forgetting their French roots. But then again, some of the French I met claimed they were really not Parisians but rather from one of the provinces. They are proud of their roots.

I get to return here this June to attend a nanotechnology conference. I met some of my sister’s friends, they are very nice people, and I look forward to spending more time with them in Paris.

I have a friend whose mother is a news anchor for the number one Paris news show. She has offered a chance to spend a few weeks in the South of France after the conference. They have a charming little summer home there. One of the things I remembered about Paris is how in the summer parts of the city seems to close down for a few weeks as everyone heads out to the provinces to their summer home in the mountains or by the sea.

I will miss the food. We ate mostly in little bistros where the locals tend to go. I enjoy the way they have open seating, rows of tables where you just find a few open seats and just set yourself down to order you meal with a total stranger sitting next to you. It makes for great conversation using a combination of my poor french, my heavily accented American accent (it improved as the conversation moved along) and very fluent Chinese. I think the waiters are more laid back then American waiters and you have to get their attention if you need additional service.

Overall, it is more expensive to live and work in Europe, especially if you have to depend on the exchange rate between the dollar/euro/pound. But since we are using our European reserves when we travel here, it is not really a drain on my personal pocketbook. However, one of the things I noticed in many of the shops is the artisanship of many of the fashion accessories. In the US, you will find that most of them are now being imported from China or other Asian producers. We were able to find many locally made accessories. You can tell by the quality and the hand stitching that it is locally made. Also, the fabric has a nicer more luxurious feel to it then the imported fabrics.

Yes, I do love Paris in the springtime.

You will get there one day. It is a beautiful city and it is much cleaner then most Chinese cities. The air is nicer and if you take the time to learn to speak a little French, the people are friendlier. Good luck to you.

Yeah, I love shopping for souveniers, especially French versions of Minnie Mouse pajamas. Ah, we did take a lot of photos today, too.
