Xenophilia and The Exotic Effect

I mentioned the Exotic Effect in another blog post, but now I want to formalize it. Bear in mind that this is neither negative nor positive. It is also definitely not a fetish.

The Exotic Effect primarily affects males due to the fact that they respond more aggressively to visual stimuli than females. The Exotic Effect is, precisely, the instantaneous attraction that can be caused by visual exposure to a human that has a highly symmetrical face of an ethnicity that differs from that of the observer.

According to scientific investigators, humans that are considered to be attractive* all have at least one thing in common - a very symmetrical face. From a scientific viewpoint, beauty in the human face is the result of symmetry.

--------------------------------------------
*However, beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder. But those considered to be beautiful by the masses have very symmetrical faces.
--------------------------------------------

I am xenophilous. I like foreign cultures and foreign people. I have always been interested in things that are different (from my point of view).

Thanks for reading.

I can think of examples where indiscriminate xenophilia could be considered a prejudice. A prime example is Nazi Germany of the past. It would be very stupid for someone to love all foreign peoples when something like that exists. Another example is the Khmer Rouge (led by Pol Pot) from 1970s Cambodia.

What I'm trying to say is that it's negative to use xenophilia like a blanket and wrap it around every culture. Likewise, it is negative to do the same with xenophobia.

It would be better for me to offer the following caveat when I proclaim xenophilia:

I am xenophilous to the extent that the foreign culture in question is not inherently xenophobic.

You bring up a good point. However, it is important to be formal and disciplined in marriage. I couldn't back out of a marriage if I suddenly found my wife to be boring or unattractive.

If her exotic nature suddenly disappeared in my eyes, then I would fall back on the marriage vows. Anyway, it's very destructive to get divorced, especially if the couple has kids. If I had a wife, she would know all of this.

The important thing to understand, which I keep reminding myself, is that I don't need to get married. I want to get married. No one needs marriage. Women do not like men that are needy or clingy, so I spend time washing those types of thoughts out of my mind. It's hard to not feel like you need marriage, because it's not fun to be alone. It seems to me that some women are very cold for expecting men to not be needy. But that's reality and I have to deal with it.

Vicky, I just want to comment that you have one of the most interesting blogs on this site. I can't read the Chinese posts, but I largely enjoy the English posts. Thanks for stopping here as well.
