Sweet Granny School summer vacation has just started in our Bundesland, for about 6 weeks. And yesterday, mother in law came and invited me to have a holiday with her going to Belgium, about 5 hours drive from my place. Since I will not fly to Phils. this year, why not? She said, she booked a holiday flat for a week and scheduled to be on 5 till 12th of July. (Hmm, can I still say no?  ) The truth is, I get along with my mom-in-law. She treats me like her own and with that, I can say I`m blessed in a way. She`s always at my side from the very beginning. Even in those times of crisis, I got her moral support. She knows I`m really a good girl  Just one thing I don`t like from her, she spoils my , which I`m not fond of  . She`s very fond of giving sweets to the . I think in one year, I can collect a big box of sweets from those gifts she`s giving.Actually, I told her about it even before, in a way that she won`t get hurt. Like why not bringing fruits or veggies instead of chocolates? Well, she said yes, she brings fruits and veggies...in addition to sweets! My friends tell me, that is common for granny here. I guess, that`s one thing I have to live with with german grandmothers. Hmm, maybe it`s a good thing that I live about an hour drive from her. So, If we see each other 5 or 6 times a year, that`s already fine with me. Of course, aside from some phone calls

My dear "KQ", thanks for the comment. Actually I`m trying my best in that...told the kids, they can eat "everything" Granny gave BUT not one time! Kids have big eyes on that, want to take everything in one day. It`s Granny whose trying to discipline meshe said, just let the kids and at some stage, they`ll get over that lust or cravings. maybe it`s true...maybe not... I see my two daughters have sweet tooths (just like their father), that`s why I worry a bit... I grew up in literally, sweet free environment, first, it`s not part of the family budget and second, chocs. are treated as delicacies for special occassions, not part of everyday meal! My point is: I didn`t missed anything

Goan yes, it`s something rare that water is thicker than the blood. On the other side, I can understand bec. they were really opposite and no binding developed between the two. She was even happy when I left the house couple of years ago. If I could have had a choice, I would rather get along with my ex. than my mom in law...., just a little blow in the wind

SGN Mahal, Well, I guess you also have points. She is the only grandma they have, my parents died even before my kids were born. Oh Mahal, you`re still to young to be a grandma but I know in your job, you serve as more than just a grandmaTake care and God bless you too Mahal

Hey Comptessa, I am also standard member, sometimes I can email, sometimes they don`t allow, depends on the mood of AFF it changes from time to time. I tried to e-mail you but your profile is turned off Hmm, are you referring to theater house that was re-built in 1951?  , I think it survived BUT from 1998 to 2001 was shut down and thouroughly overhauled and modernized and during these three years the opera performed in a temporary building on the outskirts of Mainz.
