The women I've known I wouldn't let tie my shoe...

"The women I've known I wouldn't let tie my shoe..." is a line from Rod Stewart's song Every Picture Tells a Story. Written by Rod Stewart & Ron Wood, appearing on Rod's 1971 solo album, Every Picture Tells a Story. I think this lyric came at a time when when Rod had come from musical obscurity and was climbing the ladder of success.

I'm in reminiscing mode this morning, reflecting back on previous years, thinking of previous goals, accomplishments. This year started off slow and became an upswing for me. I've been working on 8 kitchen projects right now. It's Sunday and I have to meet a customer soon. Financially this is a good thing for me to last through the summer. The Real Estate market in Florida has been stable in this area.

Some of Rod Stewart's music is great. I first heard Rod Stewart's voice on the 1968 Jeff Beck album entitled TRUTH, however the truth was Beck was (and probably still is) an egomaniac, -of-a-bitch to work with. I read a story/interview about Stewart in a musician's magazine saying that Rod and Ron when touring with Beck, were eating hard boiled egg sandwiches and Beck was having steak dinners. I always admired Rod & Ron for having to put up with a primadonna like that.

After leaving the Jeff Beck Group, Rod and Ron joined The Faces and achieved the recognition they so righteously deserved. As time went on, Rod Stewart went solo and Ron Wood joined The Rolling Stones... each having musically and financially successful careers. Things were bad in the beginning, but they found other opportunities...
(trivia: Beck was asked to join The Rolling Stones but declined before Ron Wood took the job.)

Rod Stewart turned 70 this year and is still touring. He made some great music over the years. One of my favorites is the reunion of Beck and Stewart many years after their 'breakup' they recorded the old 1965 (Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions) gospel song PEOPLE GET READY.

Rod also hooked up with his friend Ron Wood for an unplugged version of EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY. Although I prefer the album version.
