Hurricane Erika update...

Actually, it may never become a hurricane. All week, tropical storm Erika had a predicted path across the Caribbean and to turn north skirting the East coast of Florida with hurricane intensity. The National Hurricane Center Friday 5am advisory shows Erika now at the West coast of Puerto Rico, crossing over the Dominican Republic this morning and skirting the Northern coast of Cuba on Saturday. The storm is expected to reach Florida late Sunday night or early Monday morning as it strikes the southern tip of Florida's coastline at the city of Homestead, the same location Hurricane Andrew hit August 24th 23 years ago.

Storms often weaken at night as the temperatures needed to fuel their winds are low and it appears this may be what will happen to Erika.

The attached image is from the Friday morning advisory.

In the mean time, I'll still do necessary securing of my house, putting up shutters and getting gas for my generator should the power go out for several days.
