Stairway to Zeppelin...

It's been said that Led Zeppelin was the greatest cover band of all history and recent news has Jimmy Page & Robert Plant going to court. This time it's to defend charges against them that their 1971 classic song "Stairway To Heaven" copied the introduction from "Taurus" a song previously recorded by the band Spirit.

Alleged copyright infringement is nothing new to Zeppelin. More than a dozen songs have made it to the list. A handful of YouTube videos give comparisons if you need proof. look up the video: Led Zeppelin Examples of Plagiarism

About 2 minutes into the video you will hear a God awful song by Joan Baez... Yeah, they clipped her song and did the world a favor !!

I did read there is some coincidence that Zeppelin had often performed (or toured) with at least two of the artists who claimed infringement.

Hmmmm....

Thanks for reading...

Ahhh... yes, then how do you explain out-of-court settlements if they didn't copy the work of other artists?
However long ago, if they had made deals up-front to buy the rights for a small fee to little known blues singers, they wouldn't have to pay so much in attorneys fees down the road.
