Calendar August 2014

This is the only time you see this phenomenon in your life.

Calendar August 2014

August, next year, will have 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens only once every 823 years. The Chinese call it 'Silver pockets full."

Actually you don't need to wait for 823 years. In July 2011 calendar also had 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays.

The good thing is we will have 5 weekends in August 2014.

823 years is preposterous.
every 31 day month has 5 of 3 successive days. approximately every 7th 31 day month will have the 29th as a Friday - then Friday Saturday and Sunday occur 5 times - there are seven 31 day months every year, so on average one of those will be a 5-Friday-Saturday-Sunday month.

August 2014 has 5 weekends.

January, March, May, July, August, October, December are the months that have 31 days in a year.

Look calendar of May 2015 has 5 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. May 2015 is just 9 months away from August 2014. So, whoever originally said 823 years to have 5 weekends is ridiculous. We have been fooled by stupid Chinese.

Honesty is the best policy.

老鬼

Thanks for your explanation about the calendar that have 5 weekends in a month. I got those from forwarding emails from Caucasians who have Chinese friends. I realized they are wrong that 823 years is too long for 5 weekends in a month. So, I replied to them that those emails are preposterous. Because I received the same emails in 2011 about the calendar in July 2011. However, I have NEVER really spent time to calculate how long to get another 5 weekends (including Friday) in a month.

Thank you very much for your information. I shall tell my Caucasian friends your calculation to have 5 consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sunday in a month. I think they just forwarded out emails whatever they have received without thinking.

Sometimes, some Chinese can be very exaggerate about the fact. 823 years is too long to believe.

Honesty is the best policy.
