 I don't mind chatting with someone I don't know, How else do you get to know someone new? As for the webcam, I have never used it, Maybe you will give to a reason to check it out.

 Sometimes the idea of "better safe then sorry" does apply. There are scammers. When a person doesn't show for a chat, then something is amiss. What Cavy3 says about "this is 2017" is right. There are easy to use apps like QQ or WeChat, or many others. Too many free easy ways to chat internationally with text, sound, and video. It makes me wonder. OK, maybe some places may still have bandwidth issues for video. The request to go to another site is a red flag for me. Tried it once, I was invited to purchase pictures of the person. Haha, no way.
