Who is an American
 
When we talk about Americans we may imagine some faces. I only thought about white ones before I came to the US. But now that I've lived on the continent over a half year, I'm a little confused.

America has a 231 year old history since becoming independent in 1776. The first immigrants were merchants, priests and others who came from Europe about 300 years ago. They brought their dreams of wealth with them across the Atlantic on the Mayflower.
They were of European descent, so we often think of Americans as whites.

The history of America is a history of immigrants. People came here from all over the world. They lived and raised their families here, so today you can find Americans of many colors. They came from South America, Asia, Europe, Africa,and Latin America.

It's said that the American Indians were the first people on the new continent. There's no doubt that they are American, even though they're very difficult to find in our neighborhood.

I'd like to talk about the news that President Bush awarded the Dalai Lama, a Tibetan religious leader and government-opposition leader, with a gold decoration. I would like to ask Bush how he would feel if we were to praise an Indian leader who opposes the American government.

Today I met someone at the library. When my friend asked if she is an American, I said, "Who is an American?"

Hi,
long time no see you. I seldom here but I really found it's very valuable to watch your blogs today, specially The 5Grade teacher and confident crisis.

Thanks for your Blogs.

Sometimes showing the love and understanding, doing as kids to do it's the only way while kids fill frustrated in their special periods.

Sounds I could feel my baby through The 5 Grade Teacher. The reason is different. For the boy it's because he lost mother. For my daughter it's coming from diffecult to involved kid's society, SAT English problem and we couldn't understand her from her points as parents at that time.
You might unknow what I felt guilty after I got my girl has something wrong. She has been to hospital twice this year. Her medicine from one add to two kinds now. I had to suffer the pain and change my attitude, oppoion all the time.

I think that we might haven't a great way for raising kid, for having a good relationship with stuff, boss and the man. It's up to what we meet and how you adjust ourselves.

I agree Deng's theory. " No Matter What A BlACK AND WHITE, IT"S A GOOD CAT IF HE CAN CATCH THE MOUSE." Elect President Obama souds like the product of theory.(laugh)

The Olympics in Beijing belong to not only the Chinese but also all of people in the world. It’s an excited time for the sports buddies specially.
Focus on the news of Beijing recently. The gorgeous ceremony, the charming swim performance of America, the reduced polluted air, the Human-being speech by George Bush, the relative of the US volley-coach was killed in Sat. noon…The good or bad news, the speaking with positive or negative attitude…It’s a time for authorities of the West judged and criticized. China should listen and think peacefully. It’s a time for China showing the West what is the East China (Ancient and modern culture) actually. It’s the time for global people knowing China if they like seeing closely by their eyes, no prejudge prejudice.
How happy the Chinese are to meet friends after! I love the old phrase in the ceremony very much. The phrase spoke out what the Chinese want talk, that’s welcome to China. Then we’ll know each other more.
I’m happy I can and like to hear the different opinions calmly even sometimes they’re not kind……
I’m happy I’ll go back to China experiencing the historic time in China.
Lighten up, please enjoy the Olympics moment. Why not?!

I have been encounter with the culture shock now. And because I couldn't adjust the same steps with my daughter, we face some problems since in Apr. I gave up most of my points so that we both can mix up the relationship well. It's really tough and slow-long times.
But I do acquire growing- up through the encouter. Calm down, accept something you're unhappy if you have no ability to change; trying to effect slowly with a mother's tremendous love...

The meaningful suggestion to parents: Be careful if you plan your children studying aboard. It break easily for teenagers from a strict condition to such a free (or mess) educated environment.
Many students coudn't graduate from high school. The youngs can't manage themselves well. They don't know what they're want or even they know what they want but they can't control in thus society. People can see the huge advertisement about pregnant teenager always if you go shopping in Macy... Obama, presidential candidate is a son of teenager.

總有一種哭泣讓我們淚流滿面。

在電視上見過他笑,這次看到他流淚了。
我一直拒絕感動。年初冰雪之難,他八天之內三赴江南,我沒有感動,那是職責所在。

區的飛機上,在臨時搭建的帳篷裏,他講話,我沒有感動,這是一國總理應該做的。

就可以一连得意好几天,
觉得自己真是个天才。

渐渐的,
画了一张喜欢的图,就只能高兴一下下,
只高兴一下子就全忘记了。

以前画了一张烂图,
会难过好一阵子,
觉得自己真是个蠢才。

现在如果画了一张烂图,
就打定主意要立刻忘了它。

之所以喜欢这首诗是因为符合我现在的心境。我正在修炼我在任何时候都有一个平和的性格。有些时候做一个好的聆听者好过做一个忠告者。

A severious earthquake was happening in China one small town wenyang, a hundere kilimetres far away of chengdu which is a capital of sichuan province. The magnitude was 7.9, lasted 3 minutes long out around 2 pm this monday.

Today is the date which Martin Luther King passed away fourty years. Morning the memory activity's news are spark of my interest so that I pose his famous speech on my Blog.

Came the US just one year. My personal experience is that there is no domocracy, free and equal in the US as we Chinese think about to.
Most people have good manner, they're nice and polite, but in their heart deeply they think about people might have some different class, they just don't like show that easily . They like do a little judgement for a newcomer through asking what did you do for living? Or where are you come from? We Chinese here often joke that the white is the first class. The black is the second class, the yellow is the third class.

Recently there're many un kindly news about Tibet. Most American believed the news. they're very angry on the China goverment. Most mainland Chinese annoy the unfair news. They said they're so confuse how the Tibet people like reverse to the slave society which every one pray two persons skin and head bone as bowl for their Dalai Buddha each year? So I'd like say that everyone must add his opinion when he/she do some report. Hope from the news, people can easy find little different voice and be honest be truth. People should judge the news with their wise. I do don't like listen only one voice. So that how do you think China and the US. Half half, all only one voice.

First know " boycott" the word is in Martin Luther king's Day( birthday). In 1955 A black woman Rosa parks wouldn't like to move to the back of bus for black. The white throw her to jail. Martin headed out with Black boycotting the bus company at that time. The black struggled nearly 10 years untill 1964, Congress pssed the Civil Right and it legally ended the racial segregation by law. But when do the people's thought end itin fact? The truth I see is that the kids play together. They seprete mostly when they grow up.

The democracy in the US is step by step. I believe the democracy in China is taking a time. Opening the country gate just over twenty years. Please be patient, please be peace, look the huge change in the recent twenty years. Don't grap the spot of China, the Chinese young guys and the people of the world. I do dislike with "boycott" world we talk about the Olympic, As a coming from Beijing's Chinese, as a love the US think about it might be my second country's human being, that's I want to share with the friends to.

I AM HAPPY TO JOIN WITH YOU TODAY in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
FIVESCORE YEARS AGO, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
BUT ONE HUNDRED YEARS LATER, the Negro still is not free; one hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination; one of hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity; one hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself in exile in his own land.
AND SO WE’VE COME HERE TODAY to dramatize the shameful condition. In a sense we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash the check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was the promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
It’s obvious today that America has defaulted on the promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check; a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.” But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we’re come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches freedom and the security of justice.
WE HAVE ALSO COME TO THIS HALLOWED SPOT to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy; Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial injustice; Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood; now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality.
NINETEEN SIXTY-THREE IS NOT AND END, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content, will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual.
There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
BUT THERE IS SOMETHING MUST SAY to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds.
Let us no seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plan of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tired up with our destiny and they have come to realize that their freedom is inextri-
cably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.
AND AS WE WALK, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, “When will you be satisfied?” We never satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality.
We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro’s basic mobility is from a small ghetto into a large one.
WE CAN NEVERN BE SATISFIED as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating, “For Whites Only.” We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulation. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.
Go back to Mississippi; go back to Alabama; go back to South Carolina; go back to Georgia; go back to Louisiana; go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can, and will, be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.
I SAY TO YOU TODAY, my friends, that even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed—we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day, even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

SO LET DREAM RING from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado.
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.
But not only that.
Let freedom ring from the Stone Mountain of Georgia.
Let freedom ring from the Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, and when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children—black men and while men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics—will be able to join hands and to sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last; thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”

Presidential Election
One of the hottest topics all year will be the 2008 U.S Presidential Elections.It's no problem that John McCain will be representing the Republic Party,the Democrates still have no decision on either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama as their representative. People excited for a long time on Democrats primary Elections because every one if she or he will win the final which will change the history of the US. But now people look like tire with both of them a little, some of American pay their patient more on the Republic John McCain.

The Fall of The U.S. Economy
The fall of the U.S economy is also something many people are talking about. People feel the U.S. economy is in a recession or depression(business and profits slow down or drop). Sign one is higher prices; high gas prices and raised flour price, businesses closing, higher unemployment and house prices dropping because a large numer of home foreclosures(where the banks takes over a home because the owner cannot pay his mortgage)
While I came the U.S, I could find less houses for lease or sale not too much like today. It's shocked me one day in Mar. I found the houses for sale nearly every block when I walked in the South Edision near my home.
It's said U.S. banks and investors have lost billions of dollars on bad loan and mortgages. An invest counselor told me in Feb. even the Bank of America is lost the money now.The U.S. dollar has been weak in history, a serious problems have been produced in globe.

The Chief excutive in NYC had to abdicated the position because sex scadle. The girl become the famous quickly. She don't worry about her flat fee anymore. Most magazines want her to become a cover girl. I'm very suprised her mother's response while a author ask her: My dauther is so smart, she could close the Chief excutive...

Tabet is a part of China that is the truth around fifty years.Butt out, the U.S. govement. please consider how to evacute the soldiers from Iraqe. The american don't want increase the dead amounts. They coudn't endure the pains for lostting the love people. And please consider how to rise the economic so that the American could have a great happy life.

The women had to faced the very different experiences while they face the same sex scadle. So I want to tell us what of huge views do the American and Asian have. Hopefully time will fade away everything. According to the close to look, people could understand each other and effect each other. Head page: I have ideas always when I began to land the new continent. I'd like record the detailed difference between China and the US with my eyes. I'm afraid I couldn't record very well with English at first. But I worry about I'll lost the passion after long time also so that I decide I'll have written those since today.

One

It was Easter yesday. It became the third holiday of all American not only the Catholic( the first holiday is Christmas, the Second one is thanksgiving) Moning, I drove to Macy's in Edison, the US popular shopping mall. I found I made a mistike while I saw there were few cars on the parking lots. In the US, every place is closed in holidays. Oh, Supermarket would open a half day. I rushed to Pathmark, a chain of supermarket for bread, milk, ham... and a bunch of pink white lily flowers special for Easter. So you know that is the first difference Iwould like share with you. The malls, the hair salons, the restaurants, the bars, entertainments are welcome till mid night in Beijing in festivals or weekend. But in the US, it's better time to tour or family together.
It's very important to make an appointment for everything include to go to the hair sallon. You can't feel free to go there otherwise you will be unwelcome. I remembered till now, an American told me that I should make a phone call for ESL class when I came to the US beginning. A call? I thought at that time, if I can make an appointment call freely why I am here!
