thanks for the input ThaiTee. As it so happens, I was involved with a thai woman from Udonthani, in Isaan. She was spectacularly beautiful. I fell madly in love with her. I’ve never had a woman treat me like that before. Why? I suppose she liked me because I am tall and white. A guy I knew in Thailand told me that when she brought me to her village I was ‘elevating her status’ there.
She began to ask me for a visa, and she became very demanding. In fact, it became a daily occurrence. Many of my friends told me to never bring a woman back to the states. Once there, she’ll ‘americanize’, (ie. file for divorce).
So I cut my losses and said good-bye. It’s a shame, I truly cared for her. If only she had given up on the visa thing…
