Chemical weapons in Syria

As you may noticed that the most current event is chemical weapon killed at least 1,429 people including 426 in Syria. It is an inconceivable horror that the region killed its own civilians. Our primary ally, British, has voted to reject attack Syria. It sounds to me that USA will go it alone to attack Syria. President Obama said “no boots on the ground approach”, that means no troops, no soldiers will be in Syria. I think he will use “smart bomb”, “missiles” and “drone” to surgically attack the precise military sites or buildings to dramatically reduce the casualties of our soldiers.

U.S.A. has been a “world policemen” for many years. WWII, Korea war, Vietnam war, Iraq war (twice, father and of Bush), Afghanistan, and now Syria. To engage in a war will spend lots of money and sacrifice many lives and the results have been blamed by domestic and international people.

I like to travel, but NEVER been to any “Mid-East” region because I don’t understand their religion, tradition, culture, thoughts. They force their women to wear "burkas", or cover from neck down. They stone women to dead, or put women in jail when the women have been . Women can’t drive cars or have education. I would like to help “Mid-East” women but I know I shouldn’t involve. This kind of “barbarism” is simply incompatible. I won’t step-in those regions even Egypt and Israel because I don’t want to put myself in jeopardy. A girl in Pakistan, Milala Yousafzai, had been shot on her head in close range because she advocated that “girls have right to be educated”, luckily she survived.

I once dated a guy who is a Muslim (I didn’t know until I met him), I can’t even lunch with him because he doesn’t eat pork and Chinese eat pork. He listened to Arabic music which I don’t understand. So, after a coffee, I said “Good-bye” and NEVER see him. Isn't this world simpler, if there is no God? Muslim men can have four wives but women can only have one husband. How can you change “Mid-East” region by a war? They have their own minds, thoughts, religion, cultures, languages that we don’t understand them, they don’t understand us.

To have a war or not to have a war in Syria will be a dilemma for Obama.

Watch out for scammers

Scammers will

1. Ask you to talk or chat using an outside messaging service or email account
2. Vanish mysteriously from the site, often after being caught and removed
3. Talk about "destiny" or "fate" when meeting you
4. Claim to be recently widowed
5. Ask for your address or contact info under the guise of sending flowers or gifts
6. Make a lot of grammatical and spelling errors
7. Say they live in the U.S. but are currently traveling abroad
8. Always eventually ask you for money

You should

1. Block them from contact
2. Report them to Asia Friend Finder.

I have received many emails that provided their personal email addresses to chat outside. Please pass me by. I am here to bust the scammers. If your age is NOT in the range I prefer or distance is beyond 65 miles. Please don't waste your effort and my time. I know every trick in the book. I have provided my first name in my profile, but if you didn't see it, then your chance to talk to me is very minimum.

A very touching photo

A photo of a New York City police officer kneeling down to give a barefoot homeless man in Times Square a pair of boots on a cold November night is melting even the iciest New Yorkers' hearts online.
On Nov. 14, NYPD officer Lawrence DePrimo, who was on counterterrorism duty in Times Square, saw the older homeless man without shoes sitting on 42nd Street. DePrimo, 25, left and then returned with a pair of $100 boots he bought at a nearby Skechers store.
"It was freezing out, and you could see the blisters on the man's feet," DePrimo, a three-year veteran of the department who lives with his parents on Long Island, told the New York Times. "I had two pairs of socks, and I was still cold."
The random act of kindness was captured by Jennifer Foster, a tourist from Florence, Ariz., who was visiting the city. Foster, communications director for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office in Arizona, emailed the photo to the NYPD with a note commending DePrimo.

"The officer said, 'I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let's put them on and take care of you,'" Foster wrote. "The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man.
"I have been in law enforcement for 17 years," she continued. "I was never so impressed in my life. ... It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost."

Foster's photo was posted on the NYPD's Facebook page on Tuesday, where it received more than 320,000 "likes," 77,000 "shares" and 20,000 comments—most of them praising DePrimo, who seems to have restored Facebook's faith in humanity.

"This is one hell of a police officer," Desiree Wright-Borden wrote.
"Wow," Jack Horton wrote. "It's nice to know there are still good people out there."
"Angels truly do walk on earth!!!" Charlene Hoffman-Pestell wrote.
Some commenters, though, were skeptical, saying the photo could have been staged.
"Clever stunt!" Louis Zehmke wrote. "The hobo is 'parked' at the entrance of a shoe shop."
But Foster claims DePrimo had no idea he was being photographed: "The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching."

My comment:
Help the people in need is more important than donate tithing to church, temple, mosque, synagogue, ....... to worship their God.
This NYC police gave the homeless man a pair of boots is more than Romney donated million dollars for his religion. The police even don't claim for deduction from his income tax return (Schedule A)
God doesn't need MONEY, human do. I went to Salt Lake City in Utah and visited Mormon Temple Square three times. The tour guide showed us that he dropped a stick but the people in the back can hear it because the copper pillars in the front.
Why people need to build beautiful and expensive church, temple, mosque, synagogue, .... for God? If God is so mighty, he can hear our prayer everywhere, including at bedside.
I don't have any objection to claim income tax for , but helping people in need is much more meaningful. That's my point.
This NYC policeman helped the person in need is a touching story.

I have received an email from my Taiwanese relative on Sept 7, 2012. To spread the news out "refuse to buy products that Made in Korea or Japan". Here is Asia Friendfinder and I think a lot of Chinese can read this blog. I think there are many bilinguals here.

I emailed to her as follows.
I love Taiwan as much as you do, I can understand your email tell us "Don't buy any product that was Made in Korea" because what Korean said to Taiwanese. However, this is a "Free Trade" world, we should NOT carry grudges way back to history. I received a forwarding email on Aug 9, 2012 that saying the similar patriotic story that a famous TV anchor, Diane Sawyer, encouraged Americans "Don't buy products that Made in China". I got so many responses from many of my American friends. They all said it is virtually impossible to buy merchandises that Made in USA.

To be honest with you, I have Samsung flat-panel TV and my has Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G LT smartphone. (Samsung is Korea company) We choose the product because the qualities, functions, and prices, ...... I drive Honda Odyssey, Accord, Civic which are Made in Japan, knowing Japanese killed millions of Chinese during WWII. I was born and raised in Taiwan for my first 25 years and have been residing in CA for 32 years, I need to say something fair that we can't buy products from Japan or Korea because what they have done to us in the history. Let bygones be bygones. Aren't you happy that many of Apple's products, components are Made in Taiwan?? Taiwan is on the top in the world in semi-conductor industry. Are you proud of Taiwan because Apple and Google use our technology?? So, stop to say those non-sense things. What if Apple stop buy computer chips or cellular chips from Taiwan?

Cloud, you are my relative. That's why I spend so much time to explain to you why we can't carry grudges NOT to buy other country's product because we are in a "Free Trade" world. Please try to understand why I don't agree with your email "Don't buy products Made in Korea".

In conclusion, I eat in USA and gained a lot of weight.
p.s. I bought a Google Nexus 7 32GB tablet computer lately which is software by Google (American company) and hardware by Asus (Taiwanese company). I finally buy a product that 1/2 Made in USA and 1/2 Made in Taiwan and I like the product.

Made in USA? or Made in China?

I received a forwarding email on 8/9/12. (A little bit of my background. I've emigrated to Calif from Taiwan in 1980, so my first 25 years was in Taiwan and 32 years in USA.)

Well over 50 yrs ago I knew a lady who would not buy Christmas gifts if they were made in China. Her will recognize her in the following.

Did you all see Diane Sawyer's special report? They removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family's home that were not made in the USA . There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they showed truckloads of items - USA made - being brought in to replace everything and talked about how to find these items and the difference in price etc..

It was interesting that Diane said if every American spent just $64 more than normal on USA made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs!

I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT WAL-MART and ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA '

FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA ' I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE

SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF
Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think? The Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets.

70% of Americans,.. believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? You Can..DO IT YOURSELF,AMERICA !! Yes you can!!
Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example. The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans each refuse to buy just $20 of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!!

Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on Aug. 1st and continue it until Sept. 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, August 1st to Sept. 1st, 2012 START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can't live without cheap (and keep in mind, they are not cheap!!)Chinese goods for one month out of our lives,WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

Pass it on, America ...
Well, come to think of it, instead of doing it for just 1 month why not try to do it all the time.

My reply to the sender with email that read as below. I also forward to my other friends.

It may sounds good from the surface, but do you have any Apple products??? iPod, iPhone, iPad, iMac, ..... all made in China (FoxConn) due to cheap labor to save cost from competition. Are Apple products with "Apple" logo count as American made or Chinese??? I always buy my dresses at Macy as long as I like the style and material, but I don't care where that cloth made. Macy made money and Macy is an American company. Wal-Mart is the one has been the target for criticism that using "made in China" to keep price down. Do you shop at Wal-Mart, Apple, or Macy?? I do. Do you drive Japanese Car? or Mercedes Benz from Germany? Let's think it over.

Many of my friends responded. (they are all Caucasian/White)
#1.
Why should we care who makes an item. It makes me sick that we try to set standards for other countries. They don't like it and I do not blame them.
#2.
AH ME... ALL MY APPLE STUFF IS PROBABLY MADE IN CHINA, AND PROBABLY MY HP STUFF TOO.

NOT SURE ABOUT MY ALOHA SHIRTS... AH.... THEY ARE MADE IN HAWAII...

BUT I BOUGHT THEM AT WAL-MART HERE. I DRIVE A TOYOTA CAMRY, 1996. I HAVE LOTS OF CHINESE TOOLS
.
#3. (the sender)
Of course I drive a Subaru, bought from an American dealership through an American, but unlikeable salesman, and the service staff is all American...not undocumented aliens. I have had prior American cars, but found many faults done by American union workers. At least the Subaru is a quality product built by the pride of the workers...even though Japanese. (It seems that American cars have only advanced in quality/durability by this "foreign" influence). And I always buy the best product that I can, no matter who makes it! Hopefully our American built product will be superior, then I will buy it!

BTW: My Fuji bicycle is Japanese, but made in China, imported and sold by the American Company Performance Bicycle. I electrified it from an Australian Company who ordered the components from China (Hong Kong). The quality is good, and I would have bought it from an American, but there is none made here![

I wrote back to #3 (#3 is the original sender)
You are a Jew, but riding a BMW motorcycle. German killed million of Jews. I'm perplexed.

Diane Sawyer's theory is patriotism or chauvinist??? Recently the Olympics team uniform was discovered "Made in China", and the congressman and media made a big criticism and finally changed to "Made in USA". I think Boeing and GE are the most "Made in USA" companies. (I wonder their components are all made in USA?) I think we can't stop buying foreign country made products, but USA need to improve the "labor union" vs capitalist relationship.

Can we ask Diane Sawyer own any Apple products?? Driving Ford or GM cars only??

#3 replied

How far back in time do we carry grudges? If so, the Romans enslaved everyone, but I still will buy wine from Italy. Later the Catholic Church burned "non Christians" at the stake. Japan and Germany were our enemies in WW II. Etc. History is full of unfairness, but it seems that time dulls human memories! And then we all buy from the best at the time, no matter the history/source! (Ex: Apple )

My conclusion is
Now, look around your house, how many products that made in USA and how many products made in China, Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Mexico, ......What kind of car are you driving? We can't just buy "Made in USA" products, or can we?

Politics and Religion are very sensitive and controversial. Good friends can have different opinions. I am a Democrat and basically have same concepts of "Women's Choice" (I was born and raised in Catholic family and went to church very often for my first 30+ years), "Stem cell research", "Green Environment" (renewable energy, clean energy such as Nature Gas, Wind Turbine, Solar... ), I also agree with Obama using "Drone" high-tech surgically killed enemies instead of sending lots of troops to mid-East (it waste money and lives), and 1% of rich people should pay more percentage tax at this financial difficulty time.

I have an impression that Republicans are rich and in Wall Street stock market (Las Vegas Sands CEO is the highest donor to Republic party) and Democrats are poor people. Democratic party always won in East and West coasts but lose in the center states of the continent. California always vote for Democratic presidents (except Ronald Reagan??). There is delegates ballots in each state, so election is complicated. I was NOT born in this country, so you know better than me. I only said what I have observed and my personal opinions.

I don't fully understand ObamaCare health insurance, so I can't say anything that I don't know. I don't have health insurance and NOT qualify for Medicare due to my age. Republicans attack ObamaCare. My will be a MD in the future, they say MD income will be decreased because ObamaCare.

In the first debate, Obama looked too weak, he nodded his head when Romney was speaking. In the 2nd debate, the town hall meeting, I was afraid both candidates would have physical conflicts. Romney attacked Obama too aggressively. In the 3rd debate, both candidates sat down side by side is more peaceful.

I like Joe Biden's and Bill Clinton's speeches in the Democratic party Rally. They spoke very powerful words for Obama. I feel Republicans are very religious people, George W. Bush and Mitt Romney. I am an Agnostic and have doubt about existence of God. To me, when you are in USA the majority people are Christians or Catholic (Romney is Mormon), in China or Asia, people believe in Buddha, in mid-East, Allah is their God for Muslim/ Islam, in India, most people believe in Hindu, in Israel, they are Jews. There are atheists, and agnostics too. You can't force all the people believe in ONE religion.

Someone told me don't discuss politics in writing, the words might come back to hurt me. However, U.S. Constitution said "Freedom of speech, religion and press), so I am just express my personal opinions. We will know who win the election by Nov 6, 2012 night.

p.s. I watched CNN last night for "Efficiency of Energy". It talked about many sources of energy, Wind Turbine, Solar panels, Cheniere Energy "Hydraulic Fracking" for Natural Gas, Nuclear reactors, fossil fuels (oil, coal,...). We have billions cars on the road worldwide and electricity consumption daily, we need to think about "efficiency of energy". There is a guy who own a "Green House" and all his electricity, nature gas and water are self provided and that guy even invented "Carbon fiber motorcycle helmets". He is very smart. Amazing !!

8.9 earthquak/fire/tsunami/nuclear meltdown in Japan

From the moment I knew the news about 8.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan, the oil refinery fire, the huge tsunami to nuclear meltdown. It is a catastrophe. I hardly can believe it is the same Japan (very clean) I went from 1/25 to 1/29/2011. The devastating tsunami swallowed everything, tossed the cars, boats, houses, .....in its path. We saw all this nature disaster from TV. Now the threat of nuclear meltdown, radiation leak and food & water contamination make things worse. This is human tragedy and my heart goes out to them.

Japanese show to the world that they are calm in dealing this unprecedented catastrophic nature disaster. There is no looting, or robbery or riot or nagging complain. I admire their spirit and culture.

The confirmed casualty is above 12,000 lives and 15,000+ still missing. I am afraid the death toll will go even higher. It is heart-wrenching to watch this nature disaster from TV.

There are over 700 aftershocks (over 5 magnitude) after that drastic 8.9 earthquake - CNN reported.

I am an Agnostic. I believe that it is impossible to know whether there is a God. I am skeptical about the existence of God but does NOT profess true atheism. I am doubtful or non-committal about something.

I don't want to change anyone, but don't want to be changed either. Christian doesn't mean that person is good (or better) nor that person will go to "Heaven". I don't need a religion to be a good person. If God is so mighty, we can pray to HIM (or HER) anywhere, we don't need to build churches, temples, synagogues, or mosques, ....etc. Religion is to divide people. There were too many wars based on different religion believes. Bible was written by people NOT by God and that is a fact.

There are so many religions in the world. Catholic, Christan, Mormon, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim/ Islam,...etc. So far, there is no scientific proof to prove God's existence or who is the "True God". However, wars, nature disasters, disease, ...happened every day. I don't belong to any religion group unless someday I really see miracle myself.

In USA, we have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of press. I just express my own opinion.

p.s. I was born in Catholic family and went to church very often for 30 years.

Do you see the word "lie" hiding inside of "beLIEve"? Can you believe a lie?

Even "Friend" can be "End"

"Lover" can be "Over"

Before you "Forget", you first have to "Get".

The Earth without "Art" will be just Eh.
