Why I Blog in AFF

請評論. 謝謝.

When I first joined AFF, they were just starting the Blog feature. At first it was dominated by a few individuals who dabbled in touchy-feely poetry, recipes, and "I know something that you don't know 'cause you're not part of our group." Poetry was shared here without letting readers know that it was copied from another source. Many cut-n-paste articles seemed to fill the blogs of some individuals. In addition, at first it was mostly in English but now it is dominated by Chinese language bloggers.

There were a few I enjoyed, some in Chinese and a few in English: [blog tulip7857], [blog davinci2rinpoche], [blog SGNohea], [blog nanimiel], [blog angelhhong], meiersnow, [blog SanFranciscoBoy], swallowtsui, [blog phiphi007], and [blog dreamlove_lily].

I liked to comment all over the place but one day I decided to start my own blog. Sometime around Christmas three of my favorites disappeared or just stopped blogging altogether. I missed commenting on their blogs. I started posting more and more in my own blog.

The topics I seek comments on tend to be what interests me most. Currently, the U.S. is in an election mode and thus instead of just discussing how cute Asian women are, I wanted to stir the pot a little regarding the election.

This year, on the Liberal side we have Obama (Black male) vs. Clinton (White woman) against a Moderate McCain (White male). The Conservative voice has been eliminated and now needs to join forces with a Centrist.

There is another dynamic in play this year and that is the Independent and Asian voters. Most Independents are looking for solutions to problems that neither mainstream party has been able to solve because of bitter partisan politics. Asian voters, although not a major factor when it comes to large numbers, could create an interesting block of voters should they unite behind one of the candidates.

In graduate school, I was fortunate to have advisors who suggested that in addition to my full load of physics and biology courses that I should take at least one Liberal Arts course each term. That approach provided me with additional skills to go beyond what is the obvious and to seek alternative answers from different points of view.

It might not be the scholastic venue that some would hope it should be but then again we are here to share our own points of view. I doubt very seriously that we will make converts of those who oppose our views but then again we are getting original thoughts instead of cut-n-paste solutions.

Enjoy yourselves. I certainly have.

Victory,

Please, Im no different from anyone else, so no need to feel
like that. (but thanks ) heh

I only ask that anyone look beyond the surface, as usually behind
it is where the real truths lie. You have shown that you have read
up on some past events in history, and that is good. However, at
the time period of such incidents people were not aware of what is
now known. Also, there are still things buried, lies told, misconceptions..etc.. that plague the historical events. If you ask
any history teacher, they can probably tell you things you may never
have heard or read before.

And that again related to todays times... where there are many things
that people tend to believe... yet, is it really so? As you have said... The past does repeat... and the smart, yet crooked ones have only gotten better at making it do so... which is really sad.

As for Tornado, I have no idea who you are, nor who Nikon is (besides seeing a few comments here and there).

And while its not really any of your business, there was always the hope that I may meet a life partner here. And no, I wouldnt dream of
trying to come on to Victory, as Im an ugly old toad who wouldnt
even be able to keep up with her! heh

Im merely here to post my opinion, like many have.

Vicky,
Best of Luck to you,
Steve

    Quoting SteveZ:
No offense, but Politics is not very nice. Its cut-throat. Mean spirited. And TOTALLY CORRUPTED. No, its not a REAL Democracy anymore,
its merely a 'play' sponsored by the real people in power. The ones
who are wealthy beyond your comprehension.

However, I do understand your point about how shallow a lot of these
    posts are.
Steve

I am honored that you dropped by my blog. I remember that you are one of the original bloggers here. Thank you for the comments.

you are an entertaining writer and engage subjects openly.. and that's the beauty of blogging... none here are writing historical documents nor are we directing policy of a nation... so .. it's people communicating about stuff... that's all.. and I doubt that anything in this lifetime will make everyone happy and everyone agree on anything.. and that's fine, because everyone is an individual...

keep writing... and do so about anything that strikes your mind to write about.. individuals being expressive .. simply makes life interesting..
