Studio Moretti Caselli in Perugia, Umbria on Oct 25, 2018

On Oct 25, the bus took us away from Tuscany and toward Umbria region. Umbria is rich with agriculture, olive oil making and verdant forest. We arrived in Umbria's capital, Perugia.

A bus took us to Studio Moretti Caselli - a glass window workshop museum. 15th-century building with tours of stained-glass-making, including tools & furnaces.

Founded in 1859-60 by the painter and master glassworker Francesco Moretti, who worked afterwards with Ludovico Caselli his nephew. The atelier is located in the ancient XV Century building owned by the Bagliani family, which became home for the Unveristy College Bartolino.

It is an interesting museum-archive-workshop, kept today as it has been conceived in the XIX Century; the wall decorations and the furnishings of the two large rooms are in XV Century Neo Gothic Style.

After the death of the founders, the atelier has found its continuity to date through the female line of the family, from Rosa and Cecilia Caselli, to Anna Matilde Falsettini and her daughters Maddalena and Elisabetta Forenza.

Among the works exposed, the portrait of Queen Margherita, made by the founder as a demonstration of the expressive potentials of this technique, combining light and color.

Please go on Google and type in the website address that showed on the sign of this studio. it means Italy.

On the website has the painting of "Last Supper" of Jesus Christ with his followers, but I didn't see that painting in the studio.

Walked into the studio, I immediately attracted by that beautiful portrait oil painting of Queen Margherita. Look into her softness skin texture and the luxury silk-like dress. I was amazed. Everyone took the picture while listening to the current studio owner explanation. The current studio owner said his wife is the descendant of the original studio owner. He is just married to her. There are many students from art schools practicing paintings there.

You can see the original studio owner's portrait sculpture of himself. The current owner said that original artist had beard separated right in the middle.

I like this studio. I appreciate O.A.T. arranged this tour for us to see this studio. If I traveled alone, I wouldn't know the location of this studio.

Do you like this studio? I love it.
