I won't post blogs for the Sicily trip from Nov 5 to 19, 2018 My Italy trip for 36 days. It is too long journey and I exhausted. After visited beautiful Museum of Vatican, Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter's Square in Rome, I fly to Sicily, Italy to join with Group #3 from Nov 5 to 19, 2018. On Nov 5, O.A.T. arranged a female roommate to stay with me in same hotel room. She came in with nasal congestion and dry cough. Her snoring and sudden dry coughs woke me up during my sleep. She has hearing problem and wearing hearing aid during the day so she can hear the tour guide's explanation. But at night, she took off her hearing aid. She couldn't hear the "morning wake-up calls". I had to shake her to wake her up. Since she came in, she always said she felt hot and opened all the windows and balcony door even it was raining hard outside. I felt cold. She holds a rubber hot water bottle to sleep to keep her warm, but I didn't have rubber hot water bottle and felt cold all night. She said "Obama is NOT a good president and Hillary Clinton should be lock in jail, Trump is a good president who wants to make America great again. After she finished, I said quietly "I am a Democrat". She shut-up. She fought with me who should get the luggage rack each time we moved to different hotels. She drinks lots of wine on lunch, dinner and after dinner she went out with another two women to the bar to drink more wine until 11:30 pm to return to hotel room. She then took shower, made noise. I simply couldn't get along with her. She lives in Sacramento where is about one hour driving distance from the "Paradise fire". She called her husband every night about the big fire in Paradise city, CA. During the day, we didn't walk together, she walked with her two women who drink with her. She is a retired CA pharmacy tech, I am a retired CA pharmacist. Group #3 had 15 people and one trip leader who speaks the best English compare with two other trip leaders. Sicily is a beautiful island. I took many pictures but I decided not to post those 14 days journey in Sicily. There are many stories, many churches, Mt. Etna, .... The first night we had a discussion with a Mafia's 2nd . His father assassinated judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and 3 bodyguards, who were killed by a 500-kilogram bomb attack against their motorcade on May 23, 1992. Anyway, I was very tired due to not sleep well at nights and too long trip. I will stop post the Sicily trip. Honesty is the best policy. |

Dear Classy Lady, Thank you very much for your post, it makes me very happy indeed. Why would your agency O.A.T. have this service to cope with a mafia's son? It sounds like at the movie! I know mafia exists in Japan "yakudza", also in Mexico (their police blackmail the children of the rich people for money). Unfortunately, in Russia too. This is a level of the democracy. I was very surprised to know in Sicily there are many cathedrals of the Saint George the Victorian as he is at our emblem of Moscow and at our kopeika (little money called for his honour and help). Actually, there were no any dragon, just it is the symbol of the victory over the evil, devil. Dragon is the devil from the Bible. In a Russian fairy tales for children "zmey-Gorynych" змей Горыныч is the symbol of the evil, just as a Baba Yaga баба Яга (witch). Our country was pagan 1000 year after the coming of God on earth. The Italy, Rome is a place of the first Christ followers that were killed for God. God healed Saint George, so he didn't suffered extremely. It is as God also was killed in Jerusalem for our sins. The Christians are saved by the suffering as it helps to see our sins and fight with them. Saint George is a Wonderworker, we pray to him in a danger. Now we are saved (to gain a Holy Kingdom) by suffering from our inner passions, not as those first Christians in Rome. It is very deep and hard to understand as nobody wants to suffer, our Lord Jesus Christ also didn't want to die (His human nature), He prayed in Gefsimania's garden before He was took for a death to support Him, so Angels came to support Him, and He also prayed at a Cross when He died "Father, why you have thrown me alone!", so His human nature felt a total without God's support, as we here sometimes feel . It is so deep, so why we love our children, we give our all, to a death. And it is normal our human nature loves a life to a fullest as Neron, as we must fight a sin (our fallen Adam's nature) to be a new Adam= Jesus Christ here, inside of our hearts til we go to heaven. For this is a Communuion, we take a body of God, so He will cut the passions inside of our body. I maybe said not Orthodoxy 100% right as I am not a priest with PhD, but as we pray we are so weak, so God see our humbleness to help us to fight with the sins, to view it. I think it will cost a lot to travel to Italy as Euro is huge, it is extremely expensive. 1 Euro costs to 80 rubs. Huge money to travel to Europe. Our Christmas will be on 7th of January. Yours sincerely, Ksenia We have a meeting with the murderer's 2nd son in another hotel because the hotel we stayed refused to provide a room for the meeting. The mafia boss' sons had to hide from the public because people hate them. It is very controversial story. We were not allowed to take pictures or record what they said in the meeting. Because he is the son of the mafia boss, all his life had to be very secretive. O.A.T. arranged the meeting for us to meet the mafia boss 2nd son. He looks like his father when young. His father died in jail in 2017 for liver disease. In 1693, Sicily had a big earthquake and 90% of the building and people died. During the WWII (1943 to 1945), Sicily had been bombed heavily especially Palermo city. We have the experience of Fiat car driving on cobblestone, very exciting roads. Nobody could take pictures because the road condition. You only can experienced. On the last day, Nov 18, 2018, we went to Mountain Etna where just had exploded 2 days ago. I have the feeling when I heard this news from TV because I had been to Mt. Etna, a volcano mountain in Sicily. There are many Cathedrals in memory of St. Georgio who was a Roman soldier but he was a Christian. St. Georgio had been beheaded (cut off) by Romans because he was a Christian. If he was alive 150 years later, Roman accepted Christians in 323 A.D. Romans killed thousands of Christians but god didn't save them. They all died in vain. I wonder why god didn't save the Christians and let Romans killed them. Why?? Because there was no god to save them. Honesty is the best policy.

Dear Classy Lady, You would travel like the Russian pre-revolutionary rich business owner around the old Europe. You have given the lifetime chance to discover the best of their culture and their old values charm! Thank you for your time and effort to share your trip's expressions with the world as I am very poor, I would never allow myself to visit any country or within Russia. I like to read the old books, how people discovered the world around them. If your financial is not enough, you can just go Rome and Vatican. Because there are so many landmarks all close to each other in Rome. Although Roman Forum and Colosseum have been destroyed by barbarians people, but it was Roman Empire most glory time. The Pyramid of Cestius, the keyhold view Saint Peter's Square, Hercules Victor temple, Mouth of Truth, Trevi Fountain, Piazza del Quirinale, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and St. Sebastiano church, ..... They are all in Rome and close to each other. Vatican is inside of Rome, but it is a different country where the Catholic Pope lives. There are Museum of Vatican, Sistine Chapel and get out to Saint Peter's Square. Almost all the Michelangelo's artworks keep very well condition, one ticket you can see all 3 places together. You need to purchase ticket few days before the day you actual go to Vatican because people want to go see Michelangelo's artworks. The waiting line is long and very crowded, but it all worth it. It will take only 6 days/ 5 nights of your time, stay in one hotel in Rome and ask the front desk of your hotel how to enjoy those famous landmarks in Rome. That is the most economic way to travel in Rome. Do homework online before you book an airline ticket, plan well those famous landmarks in Rome. Don't go to Rome in summer because tourists are everywhere in Rome. People are too crowded and the weather is too hot. Honesty is the best policy.

I like to read the old books, how people discovered the world around them. My age is double of yours. You still have long time to reach my age. When I was at your age, I was busy with two children and a career, .... I was poor too. Travel is my passion. "if there is a will, there is a way". I am retired and have time to travel. Rich or poor, it is all depended on how you want to spend your money. I only went to 16 countries so far, not as many as some serious travelers. Italy was on the top of my "bucket list" since I was a little girl. I finally reached my goal to go to Italy, but 36 days is too long time for my age. The long walk, the long hours, and "jet lag" really made me very tired. As you may notice, I always traveled to warmer countries. I have never been to Russia because I don't like the cold weather. Russia is a big country, land is wide and scenarios are far apart. If one day I will go to Russia, that probably only Moscow. To travel with group of people, you can get more information, convenience of transportation (airplane, bus, boat, car, ...), hotel reservation, .... most important is safer with a group of people. HOWEVER, you need to get up at 6 am or 6:30 am and have breakfast at 7 am or 7:30 am, then meet everyone in the hotel lobby at 8 or 8:30 am. It is like hurry to catch-up with the group for daily itinerary. I was amazed by some travelers are 85 years old and they are healthy and walking fast. Someday when you are older, you will travel as long as you desire to go abroad or travel domestically. When I came to USA in 1980, I only brought $3,000 USD because Taiwan only allowed that amount of money to USA. I was poor too. Honesty is the best policy.

Dear Classy Lady, Thank you for your comment and for your blogs, you take time and the desire to share what inspires you. I have never been to Italy and the Italians are Catholic, they have a faith. It is interesting how you are Catholic by your birth under your dear mother's influence, you have shared you are in California for your adult time of the age, so you have been a Catholic living in Asia? This is truly amazing how your dear mother could bring a faith into your earlier life when you were a young lady and a wife. Sounds like you loved your dear husband when you wanted to soon get married and to give him all of your life, your love. Do you travel in Italy first time of your life? God has given to you such the remarkable opportunity to view the art that touches our hearts, the saint relics with a Holy Spirit inside. This Christmas time I wish to remember that in Asia was predicted that God will come on earth before the miracle of Christmas' birth. Asian culture, civilization is very old. The Asians are very hardworking and they honor their parents. I wish I didn't sound rather pressing about the Christianity towards you. I agree to travel with somebody is not easy, just like to live with somebody and to tolerate their weaknesses, but we are not perfect, we carry our crosses and give a light, a forgiveness, a mercy, the best of us if God put them into our life, we can view their great talents as people are the vision of God! I have booked and paid for a cruise trip in summer of 2020. From USA fly to Amsterdam, Netherlands then start the cruise to Luxembourg ==> Germany ==> France ==> Switzerland ==> Germany and fly back to USA. Total trip for 18 days. Honesty is the best policy.

I will try to upload those pictures again for my last 5 travel blogs on this weekend. I had a much better roommate, Lisa, in January - February 2015 for 16 days during my trip to Australia and New Zealand. That was group travel with "Women Travel Together". O.A.T. (Overseas Adventure Travel) arranged the woman to be my roommate in Sicily, Italy was a bad experience. I reported to O.A.T. and I won't have roommate in my future trip with O.A.T. I try to forget about it. Honesty is the best policy.

I am very interested, please, post when you will have the desire. How is the Christianity in Sicily? Are you a Christian living so long in California? I have said many times in my blogs, my political party is Democratic, religion is "atheist". Although I was born and raised as a Catholic (under my mom's influence". My ex proposed me and wanted me to marry him so that he could get his "Green Card" (ultimately U.S. citizen), Social security # and my properties, .... We went to the Catholic church but been told my ex had to convert to be a Catholic to marry a Catholic woman. It would taken too much time, so we went to a Christian church and got married. Many years later, the Christian pastor's wife involved in a "Ponzi Scheme". Her boss took every investor's money and escaped to Asia. It was 8 figures amount of money. I started to realized pastor's wife used her influence to scam people. We started to stop going to church and became an atheist gradually. I have many doubt about the religion and posted many blogs regarding to religions. Please refer to those previous blogs I posted. Please don't think that an atheist is a bad person. I just don't believe in God's existence. I don't believe God, Devil, Heaven or Hell. If God is exist, he or she should stop the natural disasters, i.e. Earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, ... stop the crime before the murderers kill people. I don't see any miracle. In different countries, there are different religions, so many different God. Human beings have been existed at least 10,000+ years. So many people went to Heaven, Heaven is too heavy. Why after death, only two places to go? How much guilty to go to hell, how much merits to go to heaven? We sent "astronauts" to the Moon, nobody saw "Heaven". I am an atheist but I am not a bad person. I won't go to heaven or hell. I will remain on earth, cremated in an urn. I am no longer a Christian but I follow the 'Golden Rule". Honesty is the best policy.

I hope Asia Friendfinder bloggers enjoyed my Italy and Vatican trips from Oct 15 to Nov 3, 2018. The 2nd trip (Group #2) in Rome was only 4 days with Group. I went to Museum of Vatican, Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter's Square are separated from O.A.T. that I paid extra to join a private local travel agency. However, the Michelango's artworks are super and worth to see again. Honesty is the best policy.
