China sanctions Cruz, Rubio, Smith, Brownback for criticism

China said it will impose sanctions on three U.S. lawmakers and one ambassador in response to similar actions taken by the U.S. last week against Chinese officials over alleged human rights abuses against Muslims in the Xinjiang新疆 region.

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, Rep. Chris Smith and Ambassador for Religious Freedom Sam Brownback were targeted, as was the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. The four have been critical of the ruling Communist Party’s policies toward minority groups and people of faith.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said the U.S. move had “seriously damaged China-U.S. relations” and that China was determined to uphold its national sovereignty against what it sees as interference in its internal affairs.

“China will respond further according to the development of the situation,” Hua said.

She did not spell out the sanctions beyond saying they would correspond to the American ones. The U.S. prohibited any property transactions by Americans with four senior Chinese officials and barred three of them from entering the U.S.

Senator Ted Cruz said he does not plan on traveling to the "authoritarian regime that covered up the coronavirus pandemic and endangered millions of lives worldwide."

"The Chinese Communist Party is terrified and lashing out," Cruz's statement reads. "They forced over one million Uighurs into concentration camps and engaged in ethnic cleansing, including horrific forced abortions and sterilizations. These are egregious human rights atrocities that cannot be tolerated."

CCP imposed Hong Kong National Security Laws since July 1st that they can arrest any person(s) who have ever criticized China and came to Hong Kong or China (including on the Hong Kong or Chinese airplanes. I have criticized CCP many times, I wouldn't go to China or Hong Kong for the foreseeable future.

It is ridiculous for CCP to implement a law to foreigners and CCP have the right to arrest foreigners in the world. What they think they are??!!! The ruler of the world?? It is difficult to communicate with a communist, when they are not in the same level with us. They even don't know what "human rights" 人權 are. All they know is k*lling, massacre, carnage, to silence people.

CCP thinks they are the top 1 in the world. CCP ignored "human rights" of different religion, different ethnicity, 新疆 people.
