Do you think I should make up for appearing in a photo? Usually, when I want to make up a little, I use black crayon above my eyes and a lipstick.

How about Ohaguro from the 19th century and also the Heian and even Edo periods. And Hikimayu which can be seen in Rashomon and Ran (the Kirosawa movies).

    Quoting  :

I know eye shadow, but that's not what I use, my make up is cosmétique crayon.

What do you mean with all those names? Related to make up?

Ohaguro was a fashion in Japan and South-east Asia an Southern China. Teeth blackening. Hikimayu was the fashion of plucked eyebrows and charcoal smudges as eyebrows placed high on the forehead. These fashions went along with the face whitening, and died out and were actually banned in the Meiji period at the end of the 19th century.

oldghost32, thanks for the explanation. It was the first time I heard those names.
