Jetman straps on a Jetwing...

I just saw a video of a 55-year-old former Swiss fighter pilot flying a 7 foot wide, 120 pound jet powered aircraft. Top speed is 125 miles per hour powered by 4 small jet engines.
The video didn't show the landing, but takeoff was from the side of a helicopter in flight and that leads me to believe there is some trouble in both landing and takeoff.
Interesting, but scary to say the least.

Would you fly in an airplane that doesn't have windows?

I was reading a story today that connected the seat you choose with your personality. Not important to me at the moment, they did ask if you would fly in a plane that doesn't have windows. I know I wouldn't.

On my trip to China I didn't realize how nice the view was and I was unhappy that all the passengers had the shades pulled down. Unfortunately, I was stuck in an aisle seat chosen by the travel agent.

When I return to China, I want a window seat and to be on the OPPOSITE side of the sun so I can get a good look at the scenery.

So here is my poll... would you fly in a plane that doesn't have any windows?
Yes. I would.
No. I would not.

When I logged on today, I formed an opinion that I've seen enough apples to last a lifetime.

Goodbye Pugsley Addams...

actor Ken Weatherwax who played Pugsley on the 1960's TV sitcom ADDAMS FAMILY, died Sunday from a heart attack at the age of 59.
Hopefully, you remember the show. Different, sometimes funny. The canned laughter was annoying and it will always be compared to The Munsters who came to TV around the same time period.

We went to the lake today to feed the turtles and a lizard came out to greet us. He was about two feet long and very prehistoric looking.
My wife tossed him some pieces of bread but he just stared at her motionless for the few minutes we were there feeding the other creatures. We counted 5 turtles... the 2 largest ones were a long neck variety, easily 18" long shell and their necks stuck out another 12 inches. Very unusual but they love eating chunks of bread!
Now we are saving bread in plastic bags and stop by the lake whenever we are traveling in that direction.

We went to a state park today that has a nature trail, picnic area and a few small lakes. We were prepared to see some ducks and brought some food for them. To our surprise, we were greeted by a group of racoons who were not afraid to come within a few feet of us for a handout!
They quickly ate up a few slices of pizza and some bread.

We moved on to another park where we saw turtles and fed them until all the bread was gone.

Pancake...

A few weeks ago I was showing my fiance what a typical American breakfast was. Working together, we cooked some bacon, eggs and pancakes. She's a quick learner. I show her something once and she quickly develops her technique.

Making pancakes was no different. I made a few, adjusted the amount of water in the mix and she and I made several more perfect pancakes.

I came home early one day last week and she was experimenting with pancakes... or should I say pancake. She made one huge pancake the entire size of the 14" frying pan!

Selfie Sticks

I just read a story about the South Korean government ban on unregulated 'Selfie Sticks'.

Until today, I didn't realize such a product existed. Basically, it's a telescopic pole with a handle, Bluetooth trigger and an adjustable holder for phones or tablets.

You attach your camera/phone device and hold it out at a distance much greater than arms length (probably 1-2 meters) so group shots are much better.

Punishment for selling these sticks?
According to the news story: Up to 3 years in prison or a fine of $27,000.
The reason for this is the trigger is activated by Bluetooth, making it communication equipment that requires testing and certification.

Hopefully your cellphone has a delay so you can get the non-Bluetooth selfie stick that doesn't need a trigger!

Obama...

I try to avoid political blogs. Really.
Last night after the news announcement about the Ferguson decision, President Obama came on TV appealing for calm.

Did you notice how fast his hair turned grey? It was all black a few years ago.

Unless he had dyed it all along, that man needs a touch up.

I have a famous musician friend... same age as me and he's got jet-black hair, including his mustache and beard. He must be friends with Kiss bassist Gene Simmons or at least they visit the same salon.

Barack... go for a touch up!

You are your worst enemy I said...

I was having a conversation with my 22 year old niece last week and listening to the way she runs her life prompted me to say "You are your worst enemy"

She's a likeable girl and often disappoints herself by making commitments she cannot keep.
She agreed and said she's got a tattoo for the very same reason.

Oh? I said...

She held her hand up and showed me a small cursive tattoo that runs along the edge of her and from the palm to her little finger.

It reads:
I am my worst enemy.
