Do you know about Betty? It's a non-profit, residential chemical dependency recovery hospital in California, that offers treatment for alcohol and other drug addictions. What you may not know is they recently added a West wing that specializes in IA (Internet Addiction) with a highly trained YouTube detox unit. . So, if you've been watching too many videos (like me) maybe you should consider Betty. .

2000 flushes, 6 hours talk time, 38 miles per gallon, kills fleas and their eggs

There MUST be a planet where product claims like this are actually true. I'm sure it's NOT the planet earth.
Thirty years ago I bought a product called 'muffler bandage' that was guaranteed to close small holes in a muffler. It failed miserably. I expected it to stick like 'bubble gum on a wool sweater' instead, it dried into some crusty inert white substance and fell off on it's own. I sent a letter to the manufacturer and they refunded my money.
Emergency tooth repair kit. Another worthless product. Maybe the muffler bandage people are making the tooth repair kits too. I tried one a few weeks ago. It was like putting cream cheese on your tooth and expecting it to harden. Saliva will wash it away first.
My cellphone is rated at 6 hours talk time. I figured out how to get 6 hours in a day... charge it every afternoon at 2pm.
Your car gets 38 miles per gallon. How? Are you driving downhill from Mount Everest?
Locktite brand Power Grip adhesive. I tried to attach some wood moulding with this stuff. It has the consistency of toothpaste... and the same amount of holding power.
2000 flushes.. not in my house. Unless gremlins are using the toilet when I'm away at work I say it's about 700 flushes worth.
I bought some Bug-B-Gone this week and saturated the front porch and grassy area with this product. Two days later, the fleas are tenfold. Obviously, fleas must not be bugs.
Thanks for reading my blog.

On the way home one night, I was thinking "What things could disappear from the earth and not affect me at all"
My first thought was NASCAR. Along with that... Country Music. Jehovah's witness knocking on my door Sunday morning. Spandex shorts. Reruns of Hogan's Heroes, Gilligan's Island, or Gomer Pyle. Rappers and their music. Aluminum Christmas trees. $200 Nike athletic shoes. Starbucks coffee. Well, maybe not Starbucks... it's the official first date meeting place!
Thanks for reading my blog.

This is your FIRST WARNING...

Dear blog, this morning when I got up, I had an email from an administrator of Asia Friend Finder explaining there was an abuse violation against me claiming I gave out my email address in the chat room.
The penalty is chat room ban for one day and a first warning attached to my profile.
If you ask if I'm I annoyed by this, the answer is yes.
In NO WAY did I do what was said I did.
Apparently their are transcripts of conversations that get scanned by computer and anything suspicious automatically gets sent to an administrator.
Here is some background to what had happened:
I was chatting with a friend and we were discussing the amount of people we have on our contact lists. I mentioned the QUANTITY of contacts I once had on a particular message system and apparently the number and name association was enough for the filter to (incorrectly) associate the two and alert the administrator.
I have replied to this violation notice as I'm not guilty and asked they remove this negative mark from my profile.

Knock 3 times on the ceiling if your neighbor plays loud music at 2am...

I'm sure you have all experienced it. Someone in close proximity decides to make noise (or play loud music) until the wee hours of the morning. I'm glad I don't live in an apartment or condo and have to be bothered with daily sounds of neighbors toilets flushing, compressors and elevator cars.
I do have a Latin family who throws parties 3 or 4 times a year and pipe music through their back yard. It's 'toned-down' since they first moved into the neighborhood. What used to be parties starting at 10pm and going to 4am now begin at dusk and end around midnight. Maybe they caught-on the neighbors call the police after 1am.
We used to have some bad boy with the 1,000 watt car audio a block from me. You could easily hear him coming 5 blocks away... He attracted friends with loud cars but they had smaller systems... you could only hear them 2 or 3 blocks away. The problem with these guys is they are usually on the move so calling the police doesn't help... well maybe. I'm told they actually log complaint calls like this. A block from me is car wash and they all think the neighborhood 'wants' to hear bass loud enough to shake the nick-knacks in your China cabinet and set off car alarms! Enough complaints and the owner of the business had to inform his customers they are in a low SPL zone. The problem is nearly gone. It's 8:30am on Sunday and all is quiet. A few years ago was very different.
For the record, SPL stands for Sound Pressure Level and is measured in decibels or Db for short. In the auto sound industry, specialized subwoofers are used to move air at low frequency. Some frequencies are actually below the level of human hearing... You can feel it thumping, you can hear rumbling sounds... but it's not music.
$900 list price for a 12" 'competition' sub woofer that can handle 2,000 watts. Oh, the things people do to get noticed...

Rethinking that Garden Of Eden story...

I was pretty young when I first heard it and I'm not sure I had all the facts. However, I'm an adult and my thoughts have changed... slightly. So let's recap this story and see if I have all the facts now.
I'll give you the Roman Catholic version as I remember it and you can add the version you think is best suited. Okay?
Eve goes in the garden and meets up with a snake. The snake tells Eve to eat an apple. Yeah, an apple because that's how it's depicted in all the illustrations I have seen. When God hears about the 'apple thing' he becomes angry and Casts Adam and Eve from the garden. Because Eve carried an original sin, every born into the church must go through a 'Baptism' ritual and have their sin washed away so they can enter (when the time is right) into heaven.
All this over an apple? Here's where I believe the facts drop off sharply. There was no apple or fruit as we know it. It's all figurative... things we've been led to believe that comes under the heading of BS. You see, what missing from the story is oral sex. They were forbidden to have oral sex and it was the snake who convinces her to perform oral sex on Adam and that's when God cast them out of the garden. It was a BJ and that's no BS. Understand?
For thousands of years people have been going around talking about a freakin' apple... . Stop the nonsense.
That's my blog.

Fender Guitars and Bass Guitars...
|

Leo Fender that is. Founder of the company who made those famous musical instruments bearing his name. Leo was born Clarence Leonidas Fender on August 10, 1909 in Anaheim, California and died March 21, 1991 in Fullerton, California at the ripe old age of 81. That in itself is an accomplishment. He was a work-a-holic and it was reported he was working up until the day before he died.
In the beginning, Leo manufactured radio & television equipment and saw a need for an electric guitar that was able to play amplified to larger audiences. He wasn't the first to produce an electric guitar but certainly he became one of the most famous.
In Fender's design, he had a solid body guitar with electronic pickups. Prior to this time, guitarists were using hollow body (acoustic) guitars and stood near a microphone or attached a microphone directly to the guitar. The drawback with this design is feedback and unwanted static noises being heard from the guitar. With Fender's guitars, you could plug directly to a (Fender or other) guitar amplifier and be heard to a larger audience... well over the volume of trumpets & saxophones commonly found in bands/orchestras playing music in dance halls during that period.
Fender was already making lap steel (Hawaiian) guitars and amplifiers before he released his solid body Spanish guitars. With his newly marketed instruments, Fender sought ideas from customers and incorporated these into a 'new' model released in 1954. It was called the Stratocaster! This has been the mainstay guitar of Fender since it's release. The 'Strat' has always been in production... 60 years strong.
The best 'Strats' are manufactured in the United States. There are less expensive models of Stratocasters made in Mexico. Currently 'Fender' a value priced model made overseas under the product name Squire. Like anything else, cheaper parts and labor yields cheaper guitars. If you are seeking the very best, Fender has a custom shop in California and they will build a Stratocaster to your exact specifications.
In 1964, Leo sold his company to CBS. This is an important time-line as original Fender amplifiers had a metallic face that had silvery/white lettering on a black painted background. All of the amps sold after the buyout had blue lettering with an aluminum face with a swirl design. Ask any guitarist what they prefer and the answer will always be "black face" or pre-CBS.
Vintage Fender guitars and amplifiers always bring higher prices over the products made after the buyout. Are they really different? I've had both and I believe there are subtle differences in the sound quality. Especially with the 'black face' amplifiers.
Hopefully, I haven't bored you with vintage guitar (and amplifier) facts, but it's a rare occasion to see some group of musicians performing and a Fender product isn't on the stage.
I'm left-handed and played a Fender bass for many years. Currently, I have basses by other companies but no Fenders now.
Many thanks to Snow_White9000 for the instruction to attach a photo to my blog!

Do NOT Call List...

Last Updated:Jun 24, 2014 7:26 am 86462 Views

It's been a few years since I had my phones listed on the 'National do not call registry' and I read some recent article saying to do so. OK... I did.
I really wasn't bothered by many calls... probably one or two a month, but hey! The article said it was the right thing to do.
Big mistake... !!
Now... I'm getting two or three calls a week.
Them: "Hi, we're conducting a survey" Me: Good, but not at this phone number... (click)
Them: "You can have a wireless security system installed absolutely free" Me: (click)
Them: "We'd like your support in voting for ______ who is running for ______" Me: (click)
Them: "This call is in response to a recent survey you took" Me: (click)
Them: "Hello, I'm ______ on behalf of the Florida Sheriff's Department and I'd..." Me: (click)
Them: "I'm _____ on behalf of _____ and we're authorized to beat any mortgage rate you currently have. What are you currently paying?" Me: Zero... wanna pay me to hold my mortgage? (click)
Maybe listing my numbers was an open invitation for non-solicitation solicitation.
