What's With Skype Anyway??

so you have a nice exchange or two with an individual at this site, through the internal mail system, and she decides that a chat is agreeable, and for whatever reason provides Skype as a chat service to connect....you send an invitation, which is either 1) not accepted (not rejected, just not accepted, or ignored) or 2) accepted, followed by.....nothing....never online, no replies to messages....perhaps i am the only one to whom this has occurred (much more than once)...and i know i am an old guy....BUT
i would welcome any intelligent comments about reasons why, especially from the ladies, just so i understand...it seems quite pointless to provide contact information, then not follow through...if not interested, just do not engage to begin with...yes? no? ai ya.....
